History & Today

I.W. Tremont Co., Inc. was formed with the same enthusiasm,
demand for quality and the highest business ethics as demonstrated
today. Salvatore J. Averso, President, started the company in 1979 and clearly demonstrated an entrepreneurial spirit that was ahead of his time. When leaving a large international firm with a dominance in the analytical filtration industry to start his own company, Mr. Averso relied heavily on
his strong scientific research background and a work ethic passed down from generations of family business owners. This powerful combination proved to be a successful one that would lead the business well into its second generation and beyond.

Today I.W. Tremont is still family owned and managed. Although the business has grown, the product line has expanded and the industry has matured, the same basic business philosophy has not changed. We continue to produce the best analytical and technical specialty products possible while offering the most responsive personalized customer service in the industry.

Markets Served
I.W. Tremont Co., Inc. serves three primary markets:

Analytical Markets
Analytical filtration and technical specialty products are supplied primarily through independent dealers. Through strategic relationships and manufacturing partnerships with many of the leading production mills around the world, we are able to supply our dealers with a wide array of otherwise unobtainable patented and trademarked products for sale under private label and co-branding programs.

OEM Markets
OEM markets are served by utilizing the vast offerings of our production mills combined with significant converting and manufacturing capabilities. I.W. Tremont can work closely with your scientists, researchers, engineers and procurement personnel can service customers with products from concept and prototype stages through production and ultimately warehousing and distribution. We understand the needs of manufacturers who develop and introduce new equipment. These needs often require a ramped approach to service and supply with strict confidentially, which we gladly offer and commit to.

Industrial Markets
By efficiently consolidating and managing production and inventory levels, I.W. Tremont is able to offer industrial filtration clients with the broad resources of not one single production mill and its product line, but many production mills and product lines. This allows customers to easily fill their specification and price point needs. Also, Industrial filtration customers find value in our timed release and JIT programs further reducing cash flow and project management issues.

The I.W. Tremont Green Initiative:
Many of the products we supply at I.W. Tremont are used to monitor environmental conditions. We understand and respect the delicate balance of nature and our environment. By following some basic environmentally conscious measures, we feel we can operate efficiently while creating the smallest carbon footprint possible. By doing so, we hope that we can inspire others to do the same and help to make a difference for future generations.

  • Basic recycling – All inbound packaging materials are
recycled or reused. Office paper, magazines, printed matter
    are also recycled.

  • Conservation – Environmentally friendly light fixtures,
HVAC, industrial and electronic devices are chosen when
    doing replacements.

  • Repurpose materials where applicable, i.e. –
We process tons of cellulose paper to manufacture some of
our products. Where practical, we make the most efficient use of raw materials, because naturally that is just good business sense. Elsewhere, we use our off cuts and scrap as packaging material and void fill in shipping cartons and containers. Everything else gets recycled.

  • Toner cartridges – They are shipped back to the
manufacturer or processed at a qualified recycling facility
    for reuse.

  • Electronic devices – All of these devices are recycled at reputable facilities where they are dismantled and recycled… not shipped to overseas landfills.

  • Chain of environmentalism – we choose environmentally conscious vendors, suppliers and partners over others.
